News Corp Australia Appoints Nandor Locher As Chief Digital Officer

Starting in March 2026, Nandor Locher, a senior transformation leader of News Corp Australia, will be the company’s next chief digital and technology officer. He takes over for Julian Delany, who has moved to New York to become News Corp’s worldwide chief technology officer.

Locher has been a leader in aviation, retail, insurance, and digital innovation for more than 20 years. His hiring shows that News Corp is still putting money into complex data systems and AI-driven content initiatives.

A Proven Leader In Digital Change

Locher has worked at Qantas, Virgin Australia, Woolworths Group, and Insurance Australia Group (IAG) in high-level roles. He is now the executive general manager of digital business at IAG. In this role, he is in charge of Direct Insurance Australia’s digital ecosystem, which includes NRMA Insurance. He also manages projects in AI, customer experience, and data integration.

He also runs Rollin’ Insurance, IAG’s digital brand for young people. This shows that he can lead consumer-first, data-driven innovation in several areas.

Leading News Corp’s Digital And Data Roadmap

Locher will be in charge of the company’s digital transformation plan, which will focus on three main areas: improving the user experience, adding additional data and content capabilities, and creating new digital solutions for clients. His job involves updating the platform, speeding up product development, making things more personal, and using AI.

Locher’s hiring shows that News Corp wants to turn its media platforms into smart, scalable ecosystems that can serve more than 18 million Australians through its digital network.

Locher will focus on using artificial intelligence in operations to improve content distribution, streamline processes, and boost business performance as part of News Corp’s technological plan. He wants to speed up the time it takes for digital items to hit the market and give both consumers and marketers more tailored experiences.

His leadership will be very important for bringing AI and machine learning into all of the firm’s publishing and marketing activities. This will make sure that the company is ready for the future in a media landscape that is changing quickly.

Industry Recognition And Multi-Sector Expertise

Locher has built a reputation throughout the course of his career for effectively running transformation initiatives that combine consumer insights with new technologies. He was the general manager of digital ecosystem and transformation at Woolworths Group. He led initiatives to create integrated consumer experiences across retail brands and loyalty programs.

He was in charge of digital at Qantas and a top executive at Virgin Australia before that. He helped create user-focused digital strategies that made operations more efficient and got customers more involved.

Leadership Endorsement From News Corp

Michael Miller, the executive chairman of News Corp Australasia, was happy with Locher’s hiring and said that he had a “proven track record of delivering customer-focused digital transformation across major Australian companies.”

Miller said, “Nandor’s knowledge will be very important as we keep coming up with new ideas and improving our platforms to better serve our audience of more than 18 million Australians.”

Locher’s 2026 Arrival Signals A New Phase Of Tech-Driven Growth

Locher will formally join News Corp Australia in March 2026. This will be the next step in the company’s digital growth. His leadership is anticipated to make News Corp even stronger as a tech-driven media company that focuses on analytics, customization, and smart content delivery.

The change is part of a larger global plan to connect News Corp’s regional innovation activities with its worldwide digital transformation program, which focuses on AI integration and development that is centered on the audience.
