Emirates Unveils Biometric Scanning at Dubai Airport
Emirates has said that it would put up more than 200 facial recognition cameras in Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport (DXB). This is a big step forward in its effort to improve the experience of its passengers. The goal of the AED 85 million initiative is to make travel easier and safer while cutting down on the need for physical document inspections.
The change is part of Emirates’ long-term plan to make travel quicker, safer, and frictionless for passengers. The method lets travelers go past airport security without having to present their passports or boarding cards over and over again.
Smart Technology for a Seamless Journey
The biometric gates feature cutting-edge face recognition technology that can tell who a passenger is from a distance of one meter. Once they are registered, travelers may go through immigration, boarding, and security areas with little trouble.

Collaboration Between Emirates and GDRFAD
The General Directorate of Identity and Foreigner Affairs Dubai (GDRFAD) worked with us to start this biometric project. Since 2017, the two groups have been working together to modernize airport operations and make it easier for passengers to navigate.
Adel Al Redha, Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Operating Officer, stated, “We’ve been working with GDRFAD to make sure our customers have a world-class, smooth trip through Dubai International.” He also said that the airline is still dedicated to using technology that makes flying easier and more pleasurable.

How Passengers Can Register for Facial Scanning
There are a few options for travelers to sign up for the optional biometric service: through the Emirates app, at self-service kiosks, or right at the check-in counters. Registration connects a traveler’s face with their passport and boarding card, making it easier for them to get through the airport.
People who live in the UAE and people who come from other countries can both sign up. Once they are registered, travelers may use special biometric lanes at the check-in, security, and boarding gates.
Fewer Touchpoints and Better Security
Facial scanning technology cuts down on the number of physical places where travelers have to show ID. Emirates improves health safety, efficiency, and accuracy throughout the airport experience by doing this.
Officials said that biometric verification also offers an extra layer of security and privacy protection because facial data is encrypted and managed according to Dubai’s digital governance and privacy rules.
