Qualcomm has launched the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, which is the newest member of its 8-series mobile platform family. The new processor, which is below the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, offers big performance improvements over last year’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

Oryon CPU Architecture Delivers 36% Performance Leap
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 is built on cutting-edge 3nm technology and employs Qualcomm’s newest Oryon CPU architecture. It has two main cores that operate at 3.8GHz and six performance cores that run at 3.32GHz. This makes it speedier and more stable while doing more than one thing at once.
Qualcomm says that the new chip has 36% better CPU performance and 11% quicker GPU speeds than the old one. Energy efficiency has also gone up by 13%, which means that the system runs more smoothly and uses less power whether you play games or do a lot of other things at once.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 is all about AI performance, and Qualcomm’s Hexagon NPU boosts AI computing capability by 46%. This lets on-device apps recognize images, translate languages, and grasp context more quickly.
The new Sensing Hub has motion-activated triggers, including waking up the assistant automatically when the phone is raised. These tools work together to let cellphones do complicated, multimodal AI tasks without having to rely on the cloud.
