Korean Air has completed a $217 million acquisition for an 11.02% stake in Kestrel Topco Inc. and Kestrel Holdings Inc., the parent companies of WestJet. This deal significantly strengthens Korean Air’s presence in the North American aviation market.
The transaction gives Korean Air a 10% ownership in Canada’s second-largest airline, marking a major step in its strategy to expand global airline partnerships and strategic investments across the aviation industry.
